I'M GROUNDED!

I've been very cranky lately; just like Mommy and Daddy. Everyone is stressed and not much good has been going on. Lots of money being put out to fix the truck and now something else is wrong with it.

Daddy is very sick too! I don't know what is going on with him but he went to the human doctor today. I spent some time with him before he left.

Anyway, Mommy and Daddy won't let me go out for a few days. I spent the night in the house last night and the night before. Mommy let me out this morning and I came home later before Daddy went to the doctor.

I got into a fight and Mommy and Daddy are upset. My ear and the side underneath is messed up. I've been fighting a lot lately.

When they got home, Mommy cleaned my ear and side of my face, put cream on it and I went and stayed with Daddy for a while and napped.

I want to go outside but they won't let me. I got mad and took it out on two of the kittens several times. The last time, Mommy grabbed me by the throat and put me down. That got my attention so I am trying to behave. She didn't hurt me. She never hurts me and she gave me a hug and kiss right after she did this.

Anyway, I am being punished - for three days.

How am I going to protect our property?

Mommy said that I need some time off!

Mother's Day for Mama

I saw my mommy come out with the trash tonight in the dark so I decided to meet up with her in the alley and walk her back to the house. She wanted to visit with me so she sat down at the table on the patio.

Soon the kittens' mama came and Mommy asked her to stay and wait. Mama seems to be more trusting of Mommy; she sees that Mommy is taking good care of her babies. Mommy wants her to be a part of the kittens lives and is still upset that the neighbor across the street moved the kittens out of the bushes.

Mama waited while Mommy and I went inside to bring back one of the kittens. All were sleeping except Tipper so Mommy took her outside so Mama could see how big she has gotten.

Mama is coming here every night now and coming closer. Hopefully soon Mama will be more trusting and able to visit with all the kittens.

Getting My Rest

The kittens have been keeping Mommy so busy and it's wearing her out but she always makes it a point to spend time with me and making sure I get my rest.

I have been pulling double-duty since we took in the kittens. I'm not used to little ones. When I do come in the house I check and make sure they are safe and I check them again when I am about to leave. But when they are up and running around and that loud meowing; well, I panic and don't know what to do.

I don't stay home much anymore and since it is warmer, I really don't mind sleeping outside. That bothers my mommy. She loves me and takes care of me and thinks I am working too many hours doing security.

Sometimes she makes me upset with her but I guess I'm a little cranky too. I haven't had much sleep either and have been napping in the garage. I'm not getting a good sleep; always aware of noises in case of unwelcome visitors. When she sees me yawning, she makes sure the kittens stay in the kitchen and she brings me in the house. I object but she usually wins.

I win too because I get a good long sleep in; sometimes for hours. I can stretch out too. It's safe inside and the couch is so soft.

Anyway, it has been nice the past few days and Mommy and I spend time on the patio together. I can get a short nap in while with her.

Mommy has been trying to get the yard work done, flower beds and the vegetable garden ready for planting. This also gives me a great opportunity to sleep. When she is working in the side yard, the window air conditioner is a good spot - especially since it's warm there on a cool day.

Meet My (Human) Friends

I love my friends. They are nice and fun. They talk to me, play with me, feed me treats and pet me too! Sometimes it may seem like I am ignoring them when they call my name but I'm watching out for bad cats. I'm a guard cat at home and I watch their property too. I want to make sure they are safe and then I will go see them!

Branden and Meghan are watching their mommy Kristy feed me my favorite treats. Meghan is holding Bandit.

Meghan likes to draw and she did this chalk portrait of me last year. I think it really looks a lot like me!

Table Manners Versus Feeding Frenzy

Mommy and I enjoyed a nice quiet moment of relaxation on the patio yesterday. We both needed a break; me from my security duty and she from the kittens.

Since my dishes were inside, she poured me my latest favorite - Friskies Signature Blend - into a clean ashtray along with a big bowl of fresh cold water. I'm a very neat guy and mind my manners at all times when eating.

THIS IS DOWNRIGHT RIDICULOUS!
Several weeks ago when the little ones got their teeth, the vet suggested putting down a saucer of formula to see if the kittens would eat on their own. Mommy grabbed the camera when she saw Jet do a belly flop into the saucer and the rest piled on top of her. Mommy said they looked like they were trying to recover a fumble - whatever that means.

All I know is that when I come home from security detail, Topper is usually eating out of my dish and food is everywhere. If he isn't eating out of it, chances are he is sitting in it.

Hopefully, they will learn manners soon!

The Puffies Have Names

MOMMY NAMED THEM SEVERAL WEEKS AGO so I thought I should introduce them to you and tell you a little about them.

TOPPER: He's the only boy and likes to be alone. His four sisters gang up on him. Got his name because he always fell on his head when climbing out of the box.

MISS V (Violet): Mommy said she looks like her grandma. Sweet looking and athletic, she can climb Mommy all the way to her shoulders.

TIPPER: She got her name because of her black nose and tips on her ears and tail. Messy eater as you can see. She gets a bath EVERY night.

JET: She got her name because she is totally black. She's a screamer too; loud, oh boy is she loud! She was very sick last week; almost died but she is doing very well now.

BANDIT: It the beginning, everyone thought she was a boy and got her name because she looks like she is wearing a mask. Mommy said that if she knew that Bandit was a girl, she would have named her Julie Newmar. Who is Julie Newmar?

It Was A Scary Wednesday

WITH FIVE KITTENS AT HOME IT HASN'T BEEN EASY FOR MOMMY and Wednesday was especially hard on her.

Two of the kittens are growing like cat grass and they have never been a problem to feed other than constantly squirming and making messes. They are eating solid food now and get into my bowl.

The other three have not caught up with the other two. They aren't as big and, if they had remained out in the 'wild', might not be alive today. They are still being hand fed formula and they don't know how to suck on the thing that mommy feeds them with and these things break or don't work right.

Mommy got a scare when she found one kitten on the floor on her back barely alive. She talked to someone from the doctor's office asking for help and she started crying. My mommy was upset because of the kitten's condition, that the truck isn't running, that she has to have someone go to the store for her because she can't go on her own - where she wants, when she wants to get what she wants and because she was having trouble feeding the little ones.

I think there is a lot more bothering Mommy. I know that not being able to do her own shopping where she wants to go is costing too much money and she was upset she couldn't take the kitten to the doctor because of problems getting there and because of no money to pay the doctor.

She held the kitten all day and got it to take formula. Our neighbor friend went to the store for Mommy and brought back something that worked better so that she could feed the kittens.

After Mommy got one of the kittens better, another kitten got sick and she had to take care of that one too.

I wish I knew what to do!

Protecting Home & Family

BEING A GUARD CAT AND PATROLLING THE PROPERTY IS MY NATURE and, especially with innocent kittens living with us, I have to be extra vigilant. The guys are okay with me as long as they don't come on my turf but cross that boundary without an invitation and, well, there is going to be a confrontation. We all have that agreement and we each have territorial boundaries marked. We do have neutral territory where we can get together. Most have learned not to come onto my family's property and I will do my best not to trespass on theirs.

Mommy put the kittens outside today to get some fresh air and she also hoped that the kittens' mama would hear their mews and, at least, check on them. I stayed with them a little while until it came time to do my rounds - which I am glad I did.

Mommy caught my confrontation with this trespasser on Monday.

Although it's a nice night, Mommy is keeping the kittens inside where we all know they will be safe. I can only fight one bad guy at any given time.

MOMMY IS VERY UPSET OVER SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK AND ON SUNDAY! Last Friday she saw a car pull up outside and a little human girl quickly got out of the car and came on the property and back into the car. Mommy ran outside as the car was leaving but she managed to get the driver to stop and tell her why the human girl was on our property.

Seems the little girl told her mommy (the driver) that there were kittens at our house and she wanted to see them. The girl's mommy told this human girl that she was not to run on to people's porches.

My mommy found out that, one day when she was walking past our house, the human girl heard the kittens mewing and came up on our porch and found the kittens.

Anyway, this girl's mommy said they might be interested in one of the kittens and my mommy told her that she wasn't going to let just anyone have a kitten and that she was going to be very selective in who would get any of the kittens.

Well, on Sunday my mommy saw two human little girls on the porch and she went to the front door as one of them was knocking. Seems the little human who was with her mommy in the car Friday brought a friend with her and wanted to see the kittens.

My mommy told them NO!

Mommy told me that she is not going to let this girl have a kitten because she doesn't listen to her mommy and that means she might not be a good responsible person to take care of a kitty.

I agree!

We Have Kittens Living With Us!

NEW ADDITIONS TO OUR FAMILY...My mommy brought home five kittens last Saturday. I over-heard her tell my daddy that the neighbors across the street were doing yard work and they found the kittens in the bushes and were going to leave them out in the front yard in a box. These neighbors have dogs.

Mommy didn't like that idea so she brought them home hoping that their mama saw her put the kittens under the tree beside our house. Mommy said that the kittens' mama was under the tree in the neighbors' yard and she hoped the mama saw her bring the kittens over.

When I came home, Mommy showed the kittens to me.

Mommy hoped the kittens' mama would hear their crying and would find and care for them in our safe place. I knew their mama and told she me to find her and bring her to our house.

It rained during the night and my mommy moved the kittens to the porch after she changed their bed clothes, dried and fed them.

I found their mama and brought her home for the kittens but my mommy opened the door and scared mama cat away. Mommy moved the kittens to under the tree and I went across the street and told the kittens mama where they were.

It got cold overnight and Mommy had to bring the kittens inside but would take them out and leave them on the porch during the day.

I try to help Mommy and will stay with the kittens when they are outside at night. I sit where I might be able to see their mama so that I can get her to come back. In this picture the kittens are in a Rubbermaid tote turned on its side so the kittens can go to the litter box or their mama can feed them. My mommy has this area of the porch blocked off so that the kittens won't run away and so that people walking by can't see them.

Life At Home

When it is hot out and I am at home, I like to sleep in the bathroom sink. It is cool there and is one of my favorite summer places to sleep at night when I am not outside.

I like to watch what is happening from the top of this air conditioner too. When I want in, Mommy or Daddy can see me and they will open the door for me to go inside.

I hear humans say things like "it's a dog's life" - whatever that means. I don't know how a dog lives and I don't really care. All I know is when I am out walking and I pass the ones in the alley behind the fence they make this loud noise and it just doesn't stop until after I pass.

I see some go past me with their humans. I guess they have to tie their humans to something - I don't know what it is but are they afraid of their humans running away?

I see the dogs in front of their humans so they must have to show their humans where to go. Some dogs just run by me and that is a good thing. They don't bother me but I don't like them anyway.

I don't have to have my humans tied to me - they do just fine.

Anyway, let me tell you about my life at my house. I have so many places to hang out and hide.

I don't have my own bed. I sleep where it pleases me. I sleep with Mommy or Daddy and I have a chair I like. I like the couch too! When I need time alone I like the closet and under furniture.

Mommy makes sure I have good tasting food that is healthy for me and my coat is bright and fluffy now.

Out in the yard I like sleeping in the grapevines. The garage is another favorite place and I can go upstairs there.

What is really nice is that when the weather is bad and I am out in it, I have a nice warm place to go instead of staying outside. If it starts to rain, I can get into the garage, or on the porches, on the patio - so many places. Mommy always drys me when I come in and gives me more fish to eat to warm me and my tummy.

Life at home is good.

Moving Day - Off To A Home

Mommy and Daddy's truck and the van on the final moving day from East Cleveland. The truck was fixed and now I was really off to my new home!

Mommy took this picture of me relaxing at one of my favorite places; the front porch.

I don't know dates; don't need to know dates but my human mommy told me everyday that she and my human daddy were going to take me with them. She also kept telling me she was sorry that she could not take me inside.

But Mommy and Daddy kept their promise.

I remember there were other humans helping put things on a big truck and on Mommy and Daddy's truck too. I watched and Mommy fed me and "Princess" but Mommy and Daddy called her Hawn - I was being called Goldie then and she was Hawn.

Mommy and Daddy thought there was something funny about that; I don't get it.

Mommy picked me up when she was ready to go and put me in a pet case and I was put in the the truck with Daddy and his friend Alan. Mommy tried to get the female cat they called Hawn but she scratched Mommy badly so Mommy had to leave her behind.

Mommy and her friend Dee rode in the big white truck.

Something happened to the wheel on the truck I was in so we had to turn around and go back to Terrace Tower. Daddy took me upstairs and we hung out together napping, watching TV and eating until Mommy came home. She said she got the truck unloaded and returned to where she got it.

We stayed at Terrace Tower for a while and then we left again. This time I rode with mommy and her friend Dee. I got a little sick on the way but slept most of the time.

Then Mommy took me in my case out of the truck and into another building. It wasn't Terrace Tower but another place; the house that we all live in.

I like it here.

Living Outside Was Not My Choice

RIGHT: That's me walking across the parking lot at Terrace Tower in East Cleveland, Ohio when I was still living outside. Every day my human mommy told me she was going to feed me and soon take me with her when she was ready to move.

RIGHT: One of the really bad snow storms blowing in off Lake Erie. I was living outside in this!

I can't go back in time - can't change what happened as to how I ended up outside Terrace Tower apartments in East Cleveland but I knew there were people there that hopefully would feed me and maybe someone would take me in.

I lived outside in all kinds of weather - hot, cold, windy, pouring down rain and blizzard like conditions.

Some people left me really good food; other people left me fried food which I don't like. People didn't clean up after leaving me food and the management didn't want me around because of that.

Some people were really nice to me. Some kicked me.

I slept in the bushes, outside the main door, on top of the transformer and under vehicles in the parking lot.

Someone who lived in the building had to put their cat out to live with me. She called the other cat "Princess" but Princess had some problems. She would not let anyone touch her. I would let people that were nice to me pet me but she was afraid of people. She was nice to be around on very cold nights though because we could huddle together to stay warm.
